Some figures The commune has an area of 1010 hectares and is located 32 km from Marseille, 40 km from Aix-en-Provence, 12 km from Marignane and the airport, 17 km from Martigues and 35 km from the TGV station. 'Aix-en-Provence The population is around 6000 inhabitants. The marina, nestled in a natural cove bordered by two limestone cliffs, has 600 rings. It meets European standards and its reception area can accommodate around twenty boats. Carry-le-Rouet enjoys a warm and dry Mediterranean climate in summer, temperate or even cold in winter. Precipitation is greater in winter (around 60 days with storms). The Mistral and the Tramontane are the dominant winds on the coast. The town experiences strong sunshine throughout the year, equivalent to around 127 days of sunshine and allows the town to be placed in the top 15 in the ranking of the sunniest cities in France. In summer, the outside temperature is around 30-35 degrees and the water temperature is around 20-25 degrees.
Coat of Arms and Logo The elements constituting the coat of arms of our commune are: The shield which is the support takes the name of coat of arms. The wall crown: it is made up of 2 towers. The garland of two branches, laurel, olive or oak. The banner: it contains the motto "In Carus Posito". The motto of the coat of arms "In Carus Positio" means "Anchorage near the quarry". It allows you to geographically locate the municipality. The name Carry-le-Rouet comes from the motto of the coat of arms. "Carus" meaning "quarry" and "Rouet" meaning "Roy's vine" or "Rouët" in Provençal which would be a derivative of Rouvre (oak).
A new logo for the city In 2014, the town of Carry-le-Rouet adopted a new, more dynamic visual identity. Through its colors and pictograms, the logo represents the four seasons, the four elements (flora, water, earth and fauna) as well as the four attractions of the seaside resort (pine trees, the sea, the lighthouse and the sea urchins). It is a visual identity which has the signature “Provence – Côte Bleue”, which allows the region to be geographically identified. Touristically speaking, Provence is a world-famous region. It was interesting to put the name of Carry-le-Rouet on it and to associate it with the logo of the Tourist Office.
Classified tourist resort Since January 2019, the town of Carry-le-Rouet has been classified as a tourist resort. The classification as a “classified resort” is awarded by prefectural decree valid for 12 years to “tourist municipalities” having structured a qualified offer to make it a destination of excellence. To obtain this status, the municipality must meet 45 criteria, including having at least 70% of units classified in all categories and a tourist office classified in category I. Classification as a “tourist resort” offers the following advantages: the increase in the compensation of mayors and deputies, demographic upgrading making it possible to recruit agents of a higher grade, or to create functional jobs higher than what the identified demographic threshold of the community allows, the proceeds of the additional tax to the registration fees or the land registration tax, a rate reduced to 0% of transfer taxes for municipalities with a population of less than 5,000 inhabitants located in rural revitalization zones.
