Les Eaux Salées
The cove of Saltwater is the first cove of Carry-le-Rouet coming from Marseille.
After a few minutes walk, this wild and quiet cove, located in a pine forest of Aleppo, offers you. You can admire the sea, Marseille and its islands.
The Calanque des Eaux Salées owes its name to its brackish spring. Its clear waters bathe in harmony the serrated relief of the Côte Bleue. The medium-sized cove is open to the sea and has a beach made up of large polished pebbles. The Salt Water Viaduct (centenary and classified) overlooks this privileged place for diving and sea kayaking. Not far from the beach you will see the rock of Grand Mornas (also called Grande Mona).
Pedestrian access
From the beach of Rouet: Follow the private road to the left of the parking lot of Rouet which runs along the beach and then go up towards the chapel Notre Dame du Rouet. Once at the top, leave the road following the path on the left (sign for salt water). Pass the large green gate and go down the small stairs on the right. The path runs along the railway. When you get near the bridge, go down the large stairs to reach the cove.
From the Madrague de Gignac: Follow the customs trail for about 30 minutes.
The Bouchons
This beautiful cove is still little known to the general public and is located in the heart of the marine reserve.
To have the privilege of swimming in its translucent waters and admiring its bottom, you will need a good sense of direction.
The cove is rocky, no sand or pebbles, but an ideal place to be quiet and enjoy the authenticity of the place.
Pedestrian access
From the beach of Cap Rousset, follow the small footpath towards the subdivision «Barqueroute» on the alley of Barqueroute. Take the stairs to the pedestrian path and the alley of Cap de Nantes that will lead you to the Bouchons cove.
Fallen Stones
Near the Pain de Sucre (lighthouse of Carry-le-Rouet), this cove is known for the clarity of its waters and for the ochres of its cliffs sculpted by spray, surrounded by dense vegetation.
It is a popular place for walkers, painters and photographers.
In windy weather, strong waves come to beat the rocks to offer you a magnificent spectacle.
Pedestrian access
From the city centre, take the Lézard trail (from the Maleville wharf). A few minutes walk will take you to the creek.
From the shore path, take the pedestrian path that goes down to the sea.
La Tuilière
This natural cove made of polished pebbles is located about 3 km from the city center.
It is the last of the town of Carry-le-Rouet towards Sausset-les-Pins.
It is a sheltered site, frequented by regulars who gather there for its charm and tranquility.
A restaurant overlooks this natural cove and offers you a breathtaking panorama.
On mistral days, many surfers gather there to enjoy the waves.
