Take part in "Nettoyons le Sud!", the large-scale garbage collection operation initiated by the Région Sud with Planète Perles.
Millions of tonnes of waste are produced in the region every year, some of which ends up on roadsides, beaches, green spaces and in our Mediterranean Sea. To collect this waste, recycle what can be recycled and protect our beautiful region, the Region is inviting residents to take part in a major waste collection operation for the first time. This major environmental event will bring together as many town halls, associations and residents as possible!
Since 2017, the Southern Region has put the climate issue at the heart of its priorities through the Climate Plan "une COP d'Avance". In 2022, it has been designated the first pilot Region in this field. The Region is also working with local authorities to implement a regional waste prevention and management plan.
Today, it is once again getting involved in environmental protection and the climate emergency by organizing, for the first time, the biggest waste collection operation in the region.
"Nettoyons le Sud" (Let's Clean up the South) is working towards "zero waste" in the South of France, providing an opportunity to raise awareness of the "100% Climate" policy in a positive and festive way. In all, over 200 communes and collection points will be taking part in the adventure!
With 3.6 million tonnes of household and similar waste collected every year, recycling is essential. Targets: 65% of waste recovered and 450,000 tonnes of biowaste at source by 2025.
